It is with big disappointment to announce we have been informed over the weekend that The Liquidroom will not be ready for this forthcoming weekend. This is due to a fire curtain that is required to be added following a building assessment, which involves removing part of the ceiling this week. We believe the club will be now ready on the Monday July 19th, so we have literally have just missed out by 2 days.

However, we are relieved to announce our contingency plan has been put into place. Saturday’s event with SASHA will now take place at The HMV Picture House.

The Liquidroom shall be supplying us with their brand spanking new sound system alongside their new lighting and visual spec to add to the Picture House production and ensure the event is sounding and looking of the highest quality. This is the first time this new equipment shall ever be used.

The Picture House will open at 11pm, with a pre-club starting at 8pm at The City Café.

As disappointing as it is that The Liquidroom is not ready, let’s not forget the fact SASHA is still coming to Edinburgh this weekend for his first appearance in 7 years and the date marks the re-launch of Musika’s monthly events in the capital. The party is well and truly ON!!

For further details check this Facebook post.

—

A lot has happened in 18 months, but one thing is for sure, in that time The Liquidroom has been sorely missed from the Edinburgh music/club scene…

Yes it’s true, It’s been 18 months since the fateful fire that seen the demise of The Liquidroom back in December 2008. For Musika, that meant we were homeless, but we felt compelled to make a heartfelt effort to find a way of continuing our ongoing mission of bringing the world’s top House & Techno acts to the city; refusing to turn dormant and fade away, holding party’s with the likes of Luciano to Digweed to Joris Voorn to Laurent Garnier, in almost every other possible Edinburgh venue we could…

We are now absolutely delighted to announce the eagerly anticipated details of our re-launch party and a return to monthly events at our beloved home….. The Liquidroom!!

We’d like to start as we mean to go on and we really have lined up some top drawer line-ups for the rest of 2010, however it will be hard to top our opening party. We launch in style with no other than SASHA doing the honours, marking a long awaited return to the Scottish capital.

SASHA is recognized as one of the most innovative icons of the electronic genre. Quite simply one of the World’s most recognised DJ/Producers. SASHA has led the way and written dance music history; from his early Hacienda days to the legendary Northern Exposure and Global Underground mixes to never to be forgotten tracks such as “Be as One” to “Xpander” and albums from to Airdrawndagger to Involver…..

The legacy starts here.

Address: The HMV Picture House, Edinburgh (where?).

Doors: TBA.

Entry: £22.00 after from Ticket Scotland, Rippin Records, St James Shopping Centre, Ticket Web and muskanights.com.

Midnight – 3am featuring Musika Residents & special guests.
LAURENT GARNIER

It can be said, with little hesitation or argument, that Laurent Garnier’s effect on UK dance music culture is unequalled. First introducing the Hacienda to Detroit techno and Chicago house, Garnier then changed the face of clubbing again with his all-night-long sessions at The End, in-between establishing himself alongside Frankie Knuckles in NYC, reinvigorating Paris clubland with his Wake Up parties at Rex Club, releasing tracks such as techno anthem ‘Crispy Bacon’, to the likes of one of dance music’s biggest ever anthems , ‘The Man With The Red Face’ and playing some of Ibiza’s most iconic sets on the Space terrace.

Similar to his dense musical chronology, equipped with unpredictable movements around the globe, as a DJ, Garnier is equally as lively and difficult to pin down – always ready to shake things up and leave you breathless with a swift change of direction, just when you think you have him pegged.

In 2009, Laurent Garnier made yet another move into a new and unexpected area –with the unveiling of a brand new live show and artist album, ‘Tales of a Kleptomaniac.’
The show is a dazzling 8 piece band mixture of genres and styles, each tackled as adeptly as the other. The album is a divine collage of acid house, Detroit techno, tribal, dubstep, DnB, acid jazz and dub reggae – all illuminated with the rare flair of a true visionary. Largely eschewing the typical machinations of a DJ/producer locking himself away in a studio, Laurent Garnier will incorporate a remarkable array of live instrumentation and vocalists that will fall, quite simply, nothing short of magic.

Treats such as these come about few and far between.

Check out these clips to give you a taster of what we’re in for…

After a year that has seen the likes of Luciano, Felix Da Housecat, Groove Armada, M.A.N.D.Y play Musika, we are delighted to announce Musika have been asked to host The Official After Party of the Edinburgh Hogmanay celebrations.

In association with Musika, Mylo will perform as part of the city’s outdoor Hogmanay program before heading to our official after party at the 1500 capacity HMV Picture House.

Mylo once described as “The saviour of dance music” by NME returns to Edinburgh after several years. After being locked away in the studio working on his eagerly anticipated 2nd artist album set to drop in 2010, his performances have been rare and carefully selected only for the world’s coolest festivals and events.

Joining Mylo, shall see James Zabiela, who needs no introduction as one of the world’s most prolific DJs and producers. Watching him perform enforces the fact that DJ’ing is a performance art as much as it is being the purveyor of great musical sequences, so it is no surprise last year he was voted in the top 20 of the world famous DJ Mag Top 100.

With these 2 heavyweights on the bill together alongside rising star Tom Budden and am impressive local lineup this is most definitely THE big club event in the capital you need be at…
